I loved writing my book, The Quantum Age of IT. And I love talking about it. To almost anyone who will listen! I appreciate the amount of support that it has received and the positive way that people have reacted to it. But in all of that, it can be easy to miss what the Quantum Age ideas are all about.

The Quantum IT concepts are meant to be a wake-up call about what is coming and how IT organizations need to prepare and react to this coming change. But that lives at 50,000 feet. It is the theoretical framework for action. But how do you actually make this happen? Making a Quantum IT organization a reality is going to take a lot of heavy lifting and the coordination of many moving parts. You will not be able to simply “will it” into existence. Part of it is going to be a mindset shift. But it will also be about pulling together a wide range of disciplines to make the IT organization come together cohesively.

Two of those frameworks are IVI’s IT Capability Maturity Framework (IT-CMF) and the ASL/BiSL Foundation’s Business Information Services Library (BiSL). They each address different areas of the management ecosystem and both are vital to any organization looking to make the journey into The Quantum Age. I recently authored an article for IVI entitled, Using IT-CMF to lead your organization into the Quantum Age of IT and a white paper for ASL/BiSL entitled, Business IT Relationship Renewal in The Quantum Age of IT.

I encourage you to read both of these papers to see the bigger context. Check out each of these frameworks and put them to work. It’s a smart move!
